Our dog policy at a glance
Dogs are welcome in every room. Up to 2 dogs per room, each under 50 lbs, with a $50 pet fee per stay (per stay, not per night). Please let us know you are bringing a dog when you book so the fee is applied and the room is ready for them.
ADA service animals stay free; advance notice is appreciated. Emotional support animals are welcomed under the same terms as other pets. While you are here: keep dogs leashed in common areas, clean up after them around the property, and please do not leave them unattended in the room. The full details are on our policies page.

Why dogs (and their people) like it here
Exterior doors. No elevators, no hallways, no lobby to cross at 6 a.m. Open your door and you are outside.
The waterfront. Tables and chairs line Sandusky Bay for all guests, so the evening walk ends with a sunset over the water. Tique's Bar, our outdoor bar on the property, is right there too.
Parking at your door. Free on-site parking, one spot per room, so loading the dog in and out is easy. Rooms sleep two to four; see all 12 themed rooms.

Where to go with your dog
The Lake Erie shore is good dog country. Marblehead Lighthouse State Park and East Harbor State Park are about 20 minutes away, and leashed dogs are welcome on the grounds and trails of Ohio's state parks (check the park's current rules for beaches and specific areas). Downtown Sandusky's waterfront along Jackson Street Pier is an easy on-leash stroll about 10 minutes from us.
Heading to Cedar Point? Pets are not allowed in the park, and we ask that dogs not be left alone in the room, so plan a sitter or a local daycare for park days. Text us at (419) 515-2729 and we will point you to what other guests have used.
Fall through spring
Dogs are welcome on monthly stays too
From fall through spring, rooms are available as furnished monthly stays for travel nurses, contractors and anyone who needs a month or more. Dogs are welcome on those stays under the same policy.

How much is the pet fee at The Cedar?

Is there a size limit for dogs?
Yes. Each dog must be under 50 lbs, with a maximum of 2 dogs per room.
Are dogs allowed in every room or only certain rooms?
Every one of our 12 rooms welcomes dogs. There are no pet-free rooms to work around, so book whichever theme you like.
Can I leave my dog in the room while I go to Cedar Point?
We ask that dogs not be left unattended in the room. Cedar Point does not allow pets in the park, so plan a sitter or local daycare for park days; text us and we can suggest options other guests have used.
Do you allow cats or other pets?
Dogs only. Please disclose your dog at booking; an undisclosed pet or one over the size or count limit carries a minimum $250 cleaning fee.
